Short story progress · Feb 26, 02:29 AM by Scott McNulty

Here is the start of a short story I have been working on:

The duck had been following him for several days. Everywhere he went Seth was haunted by the sound of webbed feet slapping on marble floors; a sound which once heard is seldom forgotten.

I should call a locksmith · Feb 26, 02:13 AM by Scott McNulty

Finding a naked woman on my couch was slightly troubling, beyond the obvious security concerns.

This has been running through my head · Feb 12, 11:47 AM by Scott McNulty

You’re beautiful when you’re talking to me.

I might have heard it in a song, though I am not sure.

Attempted Novelist.com · Jan 20, 12:51 AM by Scott McNulty

Well, this blog has done grown up and moved to its very own domain!

Henceforth this blog will be available here at Attempted Novelist.com. Can you feel the excitment?

Also, this blog has transformed from being about me writing a novel to writing in general. I’ll be posting my thoughts about writing, the books that I’m reading, and the creative fiction that I am working on here.

60 Stories · Dec 28, 10:57 PM by Scott McNulty

Don Barthleme is one of my favorite writers, and I could think of no one better to try out my first ‘hacked’ Textpattern plugin on. This collection of short stories is nothing short (haha) of amazing and I urge you all to go out to your local bookstore and buy a copy or two.

It seems the version I have is now out of print, but if you click on the book it will whisk you to Amazon where you can find out more.

Pilot Precise Rolling Ball V5 (Extra Fine) · Dec 28, 07:12 PM by Scott McNulty

Pilot Precise V5

I like my pens like I like my women: extra fine and full of ink. I actually made myself chuckle with that. Anyway, the pen pictured above is the Pilot Precise Roll Ball V5 , a pen which I love more than a man should legally be able to love a pen.

Why do I like it so much? How do I count the ways? A list is a good a way as any:

  1. They are cheap (I often misplace pens)
  2. I have never had one leak on me
  3. The visible ink supply saves you the embarrassment of trying to write is a dead pen
  4. They come in a dizzying array of colors

Truth be told I enjoy the ones that are gray more than the their black cousins, but I couldn’t find a picture of one (and I’m not sure if there is a difference between the two). The elusive gray pens often escape my grasp but thankfully Marisa bought me two for Christmas, bless her heart, so I am once again reunited with my pen of choice.

Large Moleskine Squared Notebook · Dec 28, 06:54 PM by Scott McNulty

Large MoleSkine Squared Notebook

I had my doubts about these notebooks, but ever since I got my hands on the small square one I have been a convert. I just bought a Large Moleskine Squared Notebook (I paid $15US) and I plan to bring it with me to my New Years trip in the wilderness.

A new category · Dec 28, 06:49 PM by Scott McNulty

I have decided that since I am writing more and more I should pay a little more attention to this little old blog. Therefore I give you the newest category: Tools of the Trade.

I will use this category to list the various things that I like to use when I write. Since I write in long hand as well as on the computer this category will be a mish mash of things that is sure to delight and repulse other writers (much like my writing).
